Orangutan Trek Guestbook
-
Our family all enjoyed the trek. It certainly was the highlight of the whole trip to Indonesia.
Darma was amazing and he looked after us very very well. His passion and enthusiasm for the rainforest was infectious. It was a wonderful experience for our children (aged 10, 12 & 14 yrs) and us to be on the 'front line' of such a significant environmental location.
The food on the trek was outstanding. Our over all safety was clearly at the forefront of the guides mind and they were always there if they perceived even a slight danger. Overall, it was possibly the best family holiday we've had (and we've had a few!) so thank you so so much for recommending it to us.

I can't really explain in words how amazing this trek was...
Highlights include Dharma and the other guides enthusiasm for pretty much everything (it was obvious they enjoyed being in the rainforest and seeing the wildlife as much as we did).
Seeing so much wildlife, from the Orangutans and thomas leaf monkeys to the termite tunnels to the quinine trees to the turtles to even the shock of seeing the Palm plantations.
Swimming in the crystal clear rivers, and camping beside them whilst the guides cooked the fresh fish they'd caught.
The whole experience was truly something I'll remember for the rest of my life. It's a very special place with some very special people.

What a wonderful life changing experience, I took the 5 day trek with 2 girlfriends.
We camped by the river in the Leuser national park for 2 nights, falling to sleep with the sounds of nature. I woke up early and went for a swim in a water pool when I looked up I saw a wild orangutan looking down at me from the canopy - amazing.
By motorbike we went to Tangkahan - a great 3 hour road trip through the countryside.
Then elephant trekking in the rainforest - this is the stuff that Jungle books are made from!
Darma and the guides are informative and fun to be with, they are truly the keepers of this part of the rainforest - knowing the behaviors of the wonderful creatures within intimately.
