Looking for an exciting challenge in nature? 🌿🍂

One option is to hike cross-country from the lodge over several valleys to reach the grounds of one of Bali's most remarkable and culturally significant temples, Pura Luhur Batukaru.

Guided by one of our village's trekking association members, they will take you through lush farm land and across clean mountain streams, sharing local knowledge & insights along the way. It is a challenging trek but rewarding in what you learn and the sights you see on the way.

This trek takes between 3-4 hours and you would return to the lodge by car after a picnic lunch. To book a hike during your stay, send us a message! Also don't worry, shorter and less challenging walks and hikes are also available if that's more suitable for you.

This view is one of the main reasons the lodge was created to begin with! To the South you see the coastal towns of Kuta, Canggu and Uluwatu far in the distance; and to the North the lush green slopes of Mt. Batukaru, Bali's second highest mountain 🍃

The perfect place to experience Bali's wildlife 🐝 🦎 🐜 🦉

At the lodge we share the space with native species of all shapes and sizes. Some are shy, some are flamboyant and bright, while others are brilliantly camouflaged in the environment. All fit into the complex tropical ecosystem we call home, creating a balance which can preserve this system long into the future.

Over 35 years we have actively regenerated the native habitat by planting a diverse range of plants and creating different ecological niches across the property. By limiting any chemical use we are also giving the small insects and sensitive wildlife like amphibians the best chance at thriving on the lodge grounds.

With a healthy population of insects, insectivores like many bird species can thrive. So in the long run reducing your chemical use can indirectly improve bird diversity for all to enjoy! 📸💚
